Sitara Privacy Policy

Sitara ("we", "the app") is a personalized astrology app. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how you can control or delete it.

Data we collect

Account: your name, email address, and profile photo from Google Sign-In.
Birth details: birth date, time (optional), and birth place. These are required to calculate your astrological chart — the core function of the app.
People you add: names, birth dates, optional birth times, and optional email addresses of people you choose to add for compatibility readings. Only add people with their knowledge and consent.
Preferences: optional answers about your goals, relationship status, work situation, and preferred reading style, used only to personalize your readings. We also store your phone's timezone so the daily reading and morning notification match where you are now (separate from birth place, which is only used for your chart).
Calendar (optional): if you choose to connect your device calendar, Sitara reads upcoming event titles, times, and invitee names (read-only) to score your plans and personalize readings. When you tap Generate on an event (or when a daily reading uses today's schedule), that event context is sent transiently to our AI reading service. If you generate guidance for an event, we may store high-level facts inferred from it (for example, a person's name and that an anniversary exists) so later readings can feel continuous — not a full copy of your calendar. Connecting your calendar plus generating guidance is your consent for this; disconnect anytime in the app or revoke calendar access in system settings. Delete your account to remove stored facts.
Push token (optional): if you enable daily notifications, we store a device push token to deliver your morning reading alert.
Approximate location (optional, one-time): if you tap "Use current location" during setup, we use your device location once to pre-fill your birth city. Location is never tracked in the background.

How data is used

Compute your natal chart, daily scores, and compatibility scores.
Generate written readings. Chart summaries (planet positions, scores — never your name or email) are processed by a third-party AI language-model service to compose the text of readings. If you have connected your calendar, today's event titles and times are included transiently so the reading can reference your real plans.
Send an optional daily notification when your reading is ready.

We do not sell your data, show ads, or share your data with third parties for marketing.

Where data is stored

Your data is stored in a managed cloud database (encrypted in transit and at rest) and protected by row-level security so only your account can read your rows. Reading text is generated by an established third-party AI service under contractual data protections; prompts contain astrological data only.

Data retention and deletion

Delete your account in-app: Profile → Delete account. This permanently removes your account, birth details, charts, scores, readings, people, and push tokens from our servers.
Signing out clears all locally cached data on the device.
You can also email us (below) to request deletion.

Children

Sitara is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

We will update this page when the policy changes and note the date above.
